The survey illuminated that one of the major weakness of automotive websites is that users were looking for more information on a site, saving them from endless searches. Who can blame them. Why not provide a variety of information on your dealer site instead of making users go back to the search engines. Who knows maybe they will end up buying a car from your competitor. So I did a little digging and found a few car dealer websites sites that are giving the people the info they need. Let's take a look at one.

Park City Ford, a Fairfield CT Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer is a good example of a dealer website that is giving customer's exactly what they want in one place. I like the fact that this dealership has decided to display reviews right on the site. It is easy for a user to read about their favorite vehicles and then check the dealership's inventory. The site includes an FAQ section which has information on a variety of topics to assist car buyers. This website also has a valuable build research tool that lets a user find a car within their budget range and then customize the vehilce that they are interested in.

This dealership's website has a great start on giving customers all the information they want in one location. How about your dealership? I had my speakers cranked up listening to A Tribe Called Quest's “Da Booty” when I visited this site and jumped an inch as this guys voice overpowered Q-Tip. How invasive! I thought we have all learned by now that having audio automatically play on your website is a bad idea. And now we have little people running all over websites as well. It's just my opinion, but let the user decide if they want to listen to and watch your videos....or should I say incarnation of the Bonzai Buddy. It could be costing you hundreds of valuable leads.

The “Blog” has been the buzz for the last few years but many businesses have unsuccessfully implemented this marketing tool. I would say that half the car dealer website blogs I come across lost their steam within the first month of their initial post. It's like a business's interest in their blog diminishes as quickly as a hipster moves to the next “new black”. And the dealership is off building a Facebook profile one week, inviting a million friends to their Myspace page the next. Unfortunately, most of these efforts become skeletons on the web, forgotten projects that never saw the love they needed to be successful.

CheckeredFlag.com on the other hand appears to know what they are doing. A few Google searches brought me to this Virgina Beach car dealers blog. To sum this auto group's blog up I would say it may be the best I have ever seen on a dealers website. The design is clean and well organized, we are not talking about another cookie cutter WordPress blog here. It also features beautiful rss feeds with local news, weather and green car news. The current post even embedded a video which is a easy way to add multimedia to your blog. Remember that we are now in the YouTube age of the Internet (but that's a whole different post).

If a customer ever wanted to get to know their dealership I think an active blog on a car dealer website is the place to find out. Their blog features bi-daily postings that give customer's an inside look at the dealership and how they fit into the local community. A recent post highlights community service work, complemented by pictures of the employees. There are also interviews with customers, employee profiles and automotive articles. Keep in mind that a blog will help with your SEO efforts as well. Content is king and blogs also have the benefits of frequent site crawls. Google loves them!

After visiting this dealership's blog I feel like I know what to expect from them. I would be dealing with people rather than a smooth talking sales people trying to make a quick sale. Breaking the Language Barrier: A Miami Honda Dealer

I recently found a site while searching for a dealership in the Miami area that brought to mind the importance of your websites audience. My frequent travels to Miami have made me aware of the large Spanish community. Potamkin Honda, a Miami Honda dealership is right on the money when it comes to breaking the language barrier. Though I am not usually a fan of splash
pages it works really well for this site. Right away the graphic elements make me feel like I'm cruising the strip of Miami in a brand new Honda. If my native language was Spanish I would feel welcomed by this dealership and assume I could easily converse in my preferred language upon arrival. The buttons are big and bright and the user is one click away from the dealerships inventory. Unlike many dealer websites this page contains a ton of content to let visitors and the search engines know what they'll find inside.

Upon entering the English version of the site I was impressed by the clean layout. I find many dealer websites to be in your face and distracting. Right off the bat I can build and research a car and see exactly what the vehicle looks like. If I see the car I want in one click I'm at your inventory. The navigation is very easy to use and and it appears that everything on the site is within three clicks from the index. Overall I'd say this is an excellent example of what a good dealer website looks like. Big ups to this Miami Honda dealer!
